ROAM Dance School and Creative Arts is based in Shrewsbury. Our classes are held on Sundays inside the Performing Arts Block at Shrewsbury College on London Rd.

At ROAM we specialise in street dance/hip hop, but we also teach a wide variety of other dance styles including contemporary, lyrical, commercial, ballet, jazz and heels. We also offer GCSE and A Level dance.

We also offer keyboard lessons as well as dance classes.

At our dance school & creative arts school, we have both recreational classes for children, teens and adults to attend just for fun and we also have competition/performance teams. We have something for everyone, so whether you just want to come along to class for fun and to learn something new or whether you want to train to a higher level and perform at competitions across the region, we have something for you.

Vision Statement:To instil and develop a love of dance by providing fun and friendly dance classes and to provide elite training as well as inspiring opportunities for those who wish to take their dancing to a higher level.

Laura.

Principal & Director.

Hi, my name is Laura and I am the principal and director of ROAM Dance School & Creative Arts. I teach dance, keyboard lessons and art at ROAM. Alongside running ROAM, I am also a SEN Year 7 Secondary School Teacher.

I trained at Liverpool John Moores University where I gained a BA (Hons) Dance Degree in 2015 where I specialised in Performance & Choreography and then went on to gain my teacher training degree with masters credits in 2016 PGDE Secondary Education Performing Arts (Dance). I also trained abroad and have taken classes in Oslo in Norway, Orlando in Florida, Millennium Dance Studios in Los Angeles, Alvin Ailey in New York City and Broadway Dance Center in New York. I love continuing my training and I am currently also working on my ISTD DDE a

I have taught dance and performing arts in many secondary schools and colleges and also teach GCSE Dance and A Level at ROAM.

My favourite part about teaching at ROAM is watching the students progress, improve, experience memorable opportunities and develop lifelong friendships.

Hi, my name’s Emma and I’ve been dancing since I was 2! Growing up, I took part in all kinds of competitive sports, but dance was always the one that felt like home. After school, I completed a BTEC in Dance alongside my A Levels and gained my acrobatic teaching qualification, which opened the door to my teaching journey. I soon began teaching regular classes and realised this was what I wanted to do full-time.

I now teach over 40 classes a week across multiple schools in Shropshire, and I’m currently finishing my Level 5 Diploma in Dance Teaching and Education. When I’m not in the studio, I love to travel and explore new places. Experiencing different cultures and ways of life has really shaped my approach to teaching - it’s shown me that everyone’s background is unique, but dance is something everyone can enjoy no matter what.

Hi, my name is Heidi and I'm a coach to Mini /Junior Street and Eclectic Street Dance Team.

I'm 18 years old and more than keen to be teaching and pushing the people I teach to be the best dancers they can be and beyond. I've been a dancer since I was 5 years old, never ever wanting to sit still and always keen to dance. 13 years of dance experience down and I still have more to learn! I'm still competing in competitions, performing in shows and taking dance classes from professionals to further my training.

My one goal is to be able to transfer all of the advice and skills I've learnt along the way to the younger and upcoming bunch of talented dancers. Dance is something I enjoy and is a massive part of my life but so is university. I'm currently studying a Graphic Design Degree and this is something that I want to pursue as a career. Designing logos, advertising campaigns, fonts and images - it's all something I love so much (as well as dance of course!). That's just a little about me!
